The first dragon was Elessian.
He first dreamed of family, and so a brother and sister came into being: Vesperathil, the Sun Dragon, and Shugguraxx, the Night Dragon.
Thus began the first battle, for battle was the dragons’ nature. Night gave way to day, then day to night, as the siblings fought for supremacy and their sire’s love.
Next came the Water Dragon, Aqissuloshiraxx, and the Earth Dragon, Vinyrrorthissae, born alongside her twin, Vurrakhamoraxx, Dragon of Fire.
As Aqissuloshiraxx gave birth to the seas, rivers, and lakes, Vinyrrorthissae and Vurrakhamoraxx shaped the mountains and plains. They too fought beneath the shadow and light cast by the struggle of their elder brother and sister. Thus was Elessia shaped.
As the land took form, so too did their consorts come: Nigguzmarthae, Queen of Darkness, Lady of the Void; Vesperathuraxx, Consort of Light; Azurassulothissae, Lady of Tides; Vinyrrorthuraxx, Father of Animals, known to take the shape of a great wolf, much to Vinyrrorthissae’s amusement; and Kharravumothil, Lady of Embers. The primordial elemental dragons mated with their consorts and grew their dragonflights.
But as Elessia aged, and the dragons grew more ambitious in their battles and works, they longed for servants, not peers. First came the elementals, brought forth by their will: beings at one with their creators and the world itself, made of flame, stone, plant, water, light, and void.
These did not fight. They shaped. They wrought the world into wonders of ever greater intricacy, following the will of their masters and creators.
Then, the world itself began to affect the elementals. They changed, and the dragons found this amusing and nurtured the change.
That was the first sin.
For from that which should have been no more than tools, the elves were born. And the dragons, who had known only battle, driven by envy, greed, lust, pride, and rage, came to know something else. They knew love. They loved their creations.
Alas. Alas, that love and sin led to war.
From war and love among the dragonflights emerged new dragons: the chromatic dragons, lords of dragonflights of their own. The Dragon of Ice, Azurastrumzmaraxx. The Storm Dragon, Azzulokharraxx, Lord of Thunder and Tempests. The Magma Dragon, Vinnakhamoraxx, Great Destroyer. The Lady of Plague, Vinnazmuraxx. The Faerie Prince, patron of home and heart, Vesporthivinaxx. And the Mistress of Illusion, Lady of the Mists of Time and Memory, Aqisseverathil.
Each chose a side in the battle between the elements, which shattered and reshaped every sea and continent of Elessia. At last, a new world settled, and each dragonflight and its servants found their place in the natural order of things.
And Elessian slept.
But more sins were to come.
