Staying in the Game

I don’t want to get into a discussion about what the word “success” means. I will nonetheless note that most people who have “succeeded” were lucky.

That does not detract from their effort: it only indicates that merit without luck is not enough. People with merit but no luck, these are unsuccessful, and so… They do not get to tell their stories.

Until the day when they succeed. Because those who work, those who persist in their work, those who strike to improve – these people stay in the game.

And whoever is playing, sooner or later, gets lucky.

Merit – work – is a part of the deal. Luck is another.

What links the two?

It’s patience.
