I’ve never been a fan of lightning travel, of single-weekend trips. It always seemed to me that the “energy out” from the actual travelling far exceeded the “energy in” that comes with the novelty of exploring a new place.
But I’m starting to change my mind.
My rationale was that if it was worth visiting a country or a city, it was worth doing it with time to spare; take two, three weeks, maybe even a month, rent a house and not be a tourist; instead, absorb the place little by little.
But what I realised is that, sometimes, the purpose of a trip is not to visit a place.
It’s to get you out of where you are.
It’s a way to reboot the operating system.
