What I wrote in a previous essay about learning is equally true for productivity.
Working is admirable. Producing is admirable. It is the work, our work – work that brings new objects, ideas or systems to the world, or that makes existing objects, ideas, or systems remain properly functional – that adds value to everyone’s existence.
But if we are all always in productivity mode, where will the new ideas come from?
The problem of productivity is that it leaves no room for creativity.
I will endeavour to become a little more (productively) lazy.
